- 1 Kathi Baking Mix for Layered Cakes
- 3 eggs
- 200 g soft butter
- 4 tbsp - flat - cocoa
- 3 tbsp water
1 jar sour cherries (weight drained: 350 g)
600 g heavy cream
4 packages whip it
4 tbsp cocoa, flat
40 g powdered sugar, sieved
optional:
cherry brandy or Kirschschnaps
dark grated chocolate
Baking Instructions German Cherry Chocolate Layered Cake
Grease the spring form (10 inches, 26cm) and sprinkle with flour.
Combine baking mix with eggs, soft butter and water in a bowl. Whisk briefly.
With a hand mixer mix on high speed until creamy.
Fill into the form, spread even, bake on 350 F for 35 min.
When done let cool off completely.
Release from the form and cut horizontally to get 2 layers.
Drain the sour cherries.
Mix cooled heavy cream with powdered sugar, cocoa and whip it packages. Beat until firm.
Spread half of the filling on top of the lower cake piece.
Press the cherries gently on top, keep some for decoration.
Place second cake piece on top. If you like you can sprinkle brandy or cherry schnaps on this cake layer.
Spread remaining filling on top of the cake and around.
Decorate with cherries and grated chocolate.
