This is a delicious German Chocolate Pear cake - a Torte, as we say in German - for which you would use the Kathi German Layered Cake Baking Mix You just need to add some fresh ingredients. Perfect for baking beginners.
For the Base Cake
• 1 Kathi Baking Mix for Layered Cakes
• 2 eggs
• 2 tbsp water
For the Filling
• 1 can pears, drained weight 460 g, unsweetened
• 100 g milk chocolate
• 100 g semi-sweet chocolate
• 600 g heavy cream
• 3 packages whip it
• 40 g grated chocolate
Baking Instructions German Chocolate Pear Layered Cake
Preparation
The day before you bake the cake break the chocolate in pieces.
Bring heavy cream to a boil, remove from heat.
Melt chocolate in the hot milk while stirring.
When all chocolate has dissolved fill into a bowl, cover with plastic foil and refrigerate over night.
Pre-heat oven to 360 F.
Drain pears through a sieve very well.
Combine the baking mix with eggs, and water.
Mix on high speed for 5 min with a hand mixer until bubbly.
Layer a 10 inch spring from with parchment paper.
Add dough and spread even.
Bake for 15 min.
Let cool off completely then cut horizontally in 2 pieces.
Place the bottom piece on a big enough cake plate and place a cake ring around.
Make the Filling
Beat the chocolate cream with whip it packages until firm. Add 20 g grated chocolate.
Cut spears in quarters, and then cut the quarters again.
Take 1/4 from the filling and spread on the bottom base cake, place pears on top.
Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours before you remove the cake ring.
Decoration Tip
Cut 2 pears in thin slices and turn both sides in sugar.
Place on a baking tray layered with parchment paper.
Bake for 15 min on 360 F. Turn them after 7 minutes.
Let completely cool off.
You can place them all around the cake. Just keep some filling and spread it around the edges, then stick the slices all around the edge.
