Now you can make fast and easily a German Streusel cake with the Kathi German Streusel Cake Mix - The perfect mix when you want to bake a German cake that needs to be topped with crumbles or Streusel.

This mix is not available at all in US supermarkets. There is no baking mix for a Streusel cake. Finally, with the Kathi baking mix it is possible to make these delicious cakes and pastries.

Instructions to Make the Streusel

  • Pre-Heat oven to 180 C or 360 F for about 30-40 min (convection 340 F)

  • In a bowl mix baking mix thoroughly with the egg and 130 g soft butter.

  • By using a hand mixer with kneading hooks mix for 2-3 min on low speed.

    You will get a crumbly dough.

    Make A Fruit Cake - Using Canned or Fresh Fruit

    The Streusel mix is for the shortcrust base cake and the Streusel.
    Pre-heat oven to 180 C or 360 F (convection 340 F)
    Use canned (drained weight 700g) fruit such as cherries, apricots, peaches. Or alternatively fresh fruit.
    Drain the fruit, keep liquid.
    Add 3 tbsp corn starch to the liquid, mix well.
    In a pan bring liquid to a boil, add the fruit.
    Grease a 10 inch 26cm spring form and sprinkle with flour.

    Use 2/3 of the streusel and form the short crust by gently pressing the dough all over the bottom and 1 inch around the rim of the spring form.
    Place the filling on the dough.
    Add remaining streusel on top.
    Bake for 45 – 50 Min.
