Bow you can make fast and easily a German yeast dough cake with the Kathi German Yeast Dough Mix or Hefeteigmix  in German - the perfect mix when you want to bake a German cake that needs to be made with a yeast dough.  

This mix is not available at all in US supermarkets. There is no baking mix for a yeast dough cake. With the Kathi baking mix it is possible to make these delicious cakes, rolls or bread.

Instructions to Make a Basic Dough

  • In a bowl mix baking mix thoroughly with the yeast mix.

  • Add 60 g soft butter and 180ml semi water to the mix
  • By using a hand mixer with kneading hooks knead the dough until smooth.
  • Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen cloth and let raise for 30 min. Dough volume should double.

  • With the hands briefly knead the dough.

  • Make the dough per instructions.

  • Knead with hands and roll to a rectangular shape.
  • Let raise for 15 min.

  • Wash, remove pits from 1.5kg Italian plums.

  • Cut plums in half but not entirely though, place with the skin facing the surface on the dough.

  • Make Streusel from the Kathi Streusel dough or make them from scratch:

For the Streusel:

200 g flour - 100 g butter  - 100 g sugar  - 1 package vanilla sugar, 0.5oz -  1/2 tsp cinnamon

- Mix all ingredients for the Streusel.
- Knead the dough so it crumbles nicely.
- Place the Streusel on top of apples.
- Pre-heat oven to 180 C - 375 F. 
- Bake on 180 C or 360 F for about 30-40 min (convection 340 F)
